The Evolution of The Joker [VIDEO]

YouTube channel Burger Fiction has uploaded a video showing the evolution of DC’s Joker character on screen over the past 50 years.

The video charts the depiction of Batman’s nemesis, from Cesar Romero in the 1966 Batman film to Jared Leto in the recently-released Suicide Squad. Romero famously refused to shave his moustache for the role, resulting in it being lightly-obscured by white make-up, but still visible.

Other incarnations include Jack Nicholson’s version in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman. Nicholson was the highest paid actor in the world up until that time, entering into the Guinness Book of World Records, and earning approximately $60 million.

Heath Ledger, who died tragically before the release of the film, won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight in 2008.
