Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness story debuts film trailer

The trailer for The Journey, a new film dealing with the relationship between Northern Ireland politicians Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness, has debuted online. The film features British actor Timothy Spall in the role of Paisley, and Irish actor Colm Meaney in the role of McGuinness, and is set around the time of the St Andrews Agreement in 2007.

The screenplay is by Colin Bateman, known for a number of novels written about Northern Ireland, including Divorcing Jack, which won the Betty Trask Award for the best first novels by authors under 35 residing in the Commonwealth of Nations.

The film was directed by Nick Hamm, who hails from Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is scheduled for release in the UK and Ireland on 05 Mary 2017.
